Dr. George is a tenured Professor of Medicine and Surgery, Divisions of Medical Oncology and Urology in the Duke University School of Medicine. He earned his
M.D. degree from Duke University School of Medicine and completed his Residency in Internal Medicine and Fellowship in Medical Oncology at Johns- Hopkins. He then joined the staff at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in the Genitourinary Oncology Program as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, prior to returning to Duke.
Dr George is an internationally recognized clinical researcher and thought leader in prostate cancer and renal cell carcinoma, with over 100 peer-reviewed publications in genitourinary oncology. His areas of research include new drug development and biomarkers of GU cancers with an emphasis on signal transduction pathways and angiogenesis.
Nationally, Dr. George is the Duke principal investigator for the Department of Defense sponsored prostate cancer clinical trials consortium grant since 2006. He has also served as Chair of the ASCO Scientific GU Committee and on the executive committee for GU cancers in the Alliance Cooperative Group since 2011. More recently, he was appointed a co-leader of the Prostate Cancer Foundation International prospective cohort study of men with metastatic prostate cancer and elected to the NCI Genitourinary Steering Committee
