Professor Maxine Tran studied medicine at the United Medical and Dental Schools of Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals, and graduated in 1999. She has a special interest in rare inherited kidney cancer syndromes and was awarded a competitive MRC clinical training fellowship for her PhD research at Imperial College London (2003-6). She then completed specialist urological surgery training as clinical lecturer at Cambridge University Hospital, and was appointed Associate Professor in Renal Cancer at UCL and Honorary Consultant Urological Surgeon at the Royal Free Hospital in 2015 and promoted to Professor in 2023. Maxine has recently joined the EAU Renal Cell Carcinoma Guidelines Panel. Her current research portfolio focuses on diagnosis, risk stratification and managment of early stage kidney cancer.
